Adieu to silence of a Sri Lankan

It was always this way. We are taught that from our youth. From text books that villainize
the invaders (වන්නිලැත්තෝ anyone?) from Portuguese to the British, evolving into enemies closer to home, brethren gone fowl from the leftist JVP actions in 79, 88-89 to the savage LTTE. We are taught to hate and the only good we learnt were at the Dhamma class.

You and me, we are good and gracious, unless goodness gracious makes the best out our conscious first to understand and see the lies that we have been told. That the west makes the best and keeps the best, that democracy is poison and that socialism is doomed to fail. What, they both don't work? you say what...

We are told that the money we make comes from hard work, that sweat and blood combusted in blistering torrents of work, work I say for the want of a better word, might I say stress maketh the man and women. Stress out to chill and reap thy rewards. Be the good Samaritan and reap ye benefits. Be the good citizen and make our futures bright and glorious.

What you may ask am I writing about... I am questioning my self about why things are the way they are, not scientifically, but socially and politically, economically. I know you do ask yourself the same sometimes. And if not I hope you will too if you never have thought this way of this system that we take for granted, not even spending a cents worth of thoughts on, understanding it. Another year ends and two zero one five is nearly here, let's take a step back to 1993, I am in grade 01 at the best school of all.
